A Time To Unite, A Time To Speak Up!

On this Mother’s Day, as we honor the selfless love, care, and sacrifices of mothers who shape and guide our lives, it is a timely reminder of our bond with our Mother Nation. Just as a mother tirelessly protects, nurtures, and sacrifices for her children, it is our duty to stand with and protect the soul of our country. Today, as we celebrate those who have given us life and meaning, let us reflect on how we, as citizens and leaders, can contribute to the well-being and strength of India—by speaking up, standing together, and acting with purpose when it matters the most.

In the midst of the ongoing crisis, I find myself deeply disheartened by the silence of so many startup founders and leaders within the entrepreneurial community (there are exceptions). It is particularly troubling when those with the power to influence and inspire are choosing to remain silent during such a crucial moment for our nation. This is not a time for indifference. This is a time for leadership, for empathy, and, most importantly, for action.

The absence of voices from those who can make a difference is a failure to live up to the responsibility that comes with leadership. Silence in times of crisis is not neutral; it is complicity. In this moment, more than ever, it is imperative that we rise above the confines of our businesses and professional pursuits and speak out for what is right. It is time to put aside our individual interests and remember that we are, first and foremost, Indians.

As a country, we have always stood together through adversity. The strength of India lies in our unity, and it is this unity that we must preserve. It is time for startup founders and business leaders to demonstrate the same commitment to the nation that they show to their organizations. Leadership is not confined to the boardroom—it extends to the very fabric of society. It is about standing with your people when it counts the most, supporting the cause of justice and peace, and doing what is right even when it’s difficult.

We cannot afford to remain passive. As leaders, we have the power to influence, to mobilize, and to guide. Our actions—or our inaction—speak volumes. Now is the time to stand up, not just as business leaders but as citizens of India. We must lead with empathy, courage, and a shared commitment to the greater good. This is not just a time to show solidarity—it’s a time to take action.

Let us not look back and wonder where the leaders were when our country needed them most. Let’s ensure that when this moment passes, it will be remembered as the time we stood together—united as one, as Indians first.
