Jumped Deposit Scam: How Scammers Trick You Into Losing Money

Imagine waking up to a random bank deposit—maybe ₹500 or ₹1,000—from an unknown source. Then, you get a call or message from someone claiming they sent the money by mistake and need you to return it. Seems harmless, right? That’s exactly what scammers want you to think.

Let’s break it down so you don’t fall for it.

🔴 How the Jumped Deposit Scam Works

1️⃣ The Setup:

A scammer deposits a small amount of money into your account (e.g., ₹500 or ₹1,000).
You notice the deposit and may even feel obligated to return it.

2️⃣ The Deception:

The scammer contacts you, often in a panic, saying:
- “I sent that money by mistake! Can you send it back?”
- “I added extra by accident—please refund the correct amount.”
But here’s the trick: the amount they ask for is much higher than what they originally sent.
