Sexual Harassment at workplace during the pandemic has gotten worse. During a quick one-on-one call with her boss, an Indian woman from Kolkata noticed that her boss wasn’t wearing any pants. He was wearing a vest and boxers and kept rubbing himself in odd places making the meeting extremely uncomfortable for her.

According to cyber-safety expert Akancha Srivastava: “The problem is that with human interaction shifting online, sexual harassment has also taken newer shapes and forms. And companies at large are lagging to update their POSH policies in keeping with the paradigm.”

The pandemic brought with it a lot of problems- one of them being sexual harassment at workplace even though work became online. A lot of working women complained of harassment like inappropriate calls, their boss not dressed appropriately while on video calls, sexist remarks, jokes and more.

“There are no clear guidelines by companies on how work from home should function in an organisation and that confuses women. I have been receiving 4-5 such complaints of harassment everyday ever since the lockdown was imposed,” said Akancha Srivastava, last month, who runs the foundation Akancha Against Harassment, India”s largest social impact against cyber harassment initiative.
