Cyber safety cannot become a national movement through information alone. It needs trust. It needs credibility. It needs institutions that citizens already respect to stand beside the message and help carry it forward.

At Akancha Srivastava Foundation, our work has always been rooted in one belief: cyberspace must become safer for every citizen. Children, parents, students, professionals, senior citizens, women, families, and first-time digital users all face risks that are often confusing, fast-moving, and deeply personal. A cybercrime incident is rarely just a technical problem. It can become a financial crisis, a reputational threat, a family emergency, a mental health burden, or a legal challenge.

This is why cyber safety awareness must be practical, credible, and accessible.

We are deeply grateful to ADG Navniet Sekera for supporting cyber crime awareness and for consistently encouraging meaningful public-safety work. When senior law enforcement leaders lend their voice to cyber safety, the message reaches citizens with greater seriousness. It also helps remove the fear and hesitation that many victims feel when they need to seek help.

For years, people have suffered silently after facing online blackmail, financial fraud, cyber stalking, image misuse, impersonation, bullying, and digital threats. Many do not know where to report. Many are afraid of being judged. Many assume that nothing can be done. Many delete evidence in panic. Many delay action until the damage has multiplied.

Awareness can change that.

A citizen who knows what to do in the first hour after a cyber incident is already safer. A parent who understands online grooming patterns can protect a child earlier. A student who knows that screenshots, URLs, phone numbers, payment trails, and chat records matter is better prepared to report correctly. A senior citizen who understands OTP fraud is less likely to be manipulated by a fake caller. A young woman facing image-based abuse may feel less alone if she knows that the law, reporting systems, and support pathways exist.

This is the difference between fear and informed action.

Cybercrime is not limited to one age group, one profession, or one region. It affects people across the country. The threats are constantly evolving. Fraudsters use social engineering, urgency, emotional pressure, fake identities, compromised links, morphed images, cloned voices, and convincing digital deception. Technology has given criminals scale, speed, and anonymity. Public awareness must therefore become equally strong, equally consistent, and equally widespread.

That is where police-supported awareness becomes critical.

Law enforcement is often the first formal system a victim turns to after a cyber incident. For citizens to approach the system with confidence, they need to understand that cybercrime is real, reportable, and serious. They need to know that silence helps offenders. They need to know that shame should never stop them from seeking help. They need to know that evidence must be preserved. They need to know that early reporting improves the possibility of action.

When officers and public safety leaders encourage cyber awareness, they strengthen public confidence. They remind citizens that prevention and reporting are both part of safety. They also reinforce that cybercrime is not a private embarrassment; it is a public protection issue.

Akancha Srivastava Foundation has worked for years to simplify cyber safety for citizens. Our workshops, public campaigns, school programmes, corporate awareness sessions, law enforcement training, and victim support work are all designed to make complex digital risks understandable. We speak to people in language they can act on. We explain what the threat looks like, how it begins, what mistakes to avoid, and where to seek help.

Our focus has always been prevention-led. We want citizens to recognise danger before harm occurs. We want families to talk openly about online risk. We want schools to treat cyber safety as a life skill. We want institutions to train their teams before a crisis. We want victims to receive structured guidance instead of panic, stigma, or confusion.

The support of respected law enforcement leaders strengthens this mission.

It tells citizens that this work matters.

It tells parents that cyber safety is no longer optional.

It tells young people that online conduct has real-world consequences.

It tells victims that they are not powerless.

It tells institutions that awareness cannot be postponed.

The digital world is now part of every home. Children learn online. Families communicate online. People bank online. Professionals work online. Citizens access services online. Relationships begin and break online. Reputations are built and attacked online. Money moves online. Evidence exists online.

Safety must therefore move online too.

Cyber safety is not only about passwords and devices. It is about behaviour, awareness, responsibility, law, dignity, and timely response. It is about knowing when something is unsafe. It is about refusing to share OTPs. It is about verifying before trusting. It is about teaching children that secrecy online can be dangerous. It is about reminding young adults that private images can be weaponised. It is about helping senior citizens recognise fraudulent calls. It is about training employees to protect customer data. It is about ensuring that victims know how to report without destroying evidence.

The Foundation’s work sits at this intersection of education, prevention, institutional capacity building, and victim support.

We are grateful to every police officer, educator, parent, institution, volunteer, partner, and citizen who has helped carry this message forward. We are especially grateful to those who trusted us during difficult moments and allowed us to guide them through fear, confusion, and distress. Their courage has shaped our work.

Cyber safety awareness becomes powerful when it is repeated, reinforced, and normalised. One video, one session, one workshop, one message, one public endorsement can push someone to take the right action at the right time.

That is why visible support matters.

That is why credible voices matter.

That is why public awareness campaigns matter.

And that is why the Foundation will continue to work with citizens, institutions, and law enforcement ecosystems to build a safer digital society.

Cyberspace will become safer when people know what to watch for, what to avoid, what to preserve, where to report, and how to seek help without shame.

Our mission remains clear: educate, empower, and bridge.

Educate citizens before harm occurs.

Empower victims when they need guidance.

Bridge the gap between people, institutions, law enforcement, and specialist support.

We thank ADG Navniet Sekera for standing with this mission and for encouraging cyber crime awareness. Leadership of this kind gives strength to public-safety work and helps citizens take digital threats seriously.

Cyber safety is not a one-day campaign. It is a continuing national responsibility.

And together, we can make cyberspace safer for all.

Our visit to Mumbai 100 Headquarters was deeply moving and filled our hearts with pride.

This is the police helpline that functions 24×7 for citizens in distress. Every call that comes in carries urgency, fear, uncertainty, and the hope that help will reach in time. For the person calling, that voice on the other side can become the first source of calm, direction, and protection.

Meeting the officers and hearing their stories reminded us of the extraordinary human effort behind emergency response. A control room may look like a system of phones, screens, processes, and coordination desks, yet its real strength comes from the people who carry the responsibility of responding with speed, patience, discipline, and courage.

Every distress call demands clear thinking. Someone may be facing danger, violence, accident, threat, panic, public disorder, cybercrime, or a situation where immediate police support is needed. The officers must listen carefully, assess the situation, guide the caller, coordinate field response, and stay composed through moments that can decide the safety of another human being.

This work requires emotional strength. It requires alertness through long hours. It requires empathy without losing focus. It requires the ability to hear fear and still respond with clarity. These officers serve through pressure that most citizens never see.

Our hearts were truly moved by their commitment. They answer calls from strangers. They respond to emergencies at all hours. They protect people they may never meet. They become the lifeline for families, women, children, senior citizens, accident victims, and every person reaching out in a moment of distress.

At Akancha Srivastava Foundation, our work with law enforcement across India has repeatedly shown us the depth of service carried by police professionals. Their role extends far beyond enforcement. They are protectors, responders, counsellors, coordinators, and steady guardians during some of the most difficult moments in people’s lives.

We do not thank these unsung heroes enough.

Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear uniforms. Some sit behind emergency lines through the day and night. Some carry the pressure of public safety with quiet strength. Some show up for society without seeking recognition.

It was our privilege to know them, hear their stories, and witness their dedication closely.

To the officers at Mumbai 100 Headquarters and every police professional who serves citizens in distress, our deepest respect and gratitude. Your service carries courage, responsibility, and hope.

We are resharing this important video featuring ADG @vishwasnangrepatil Sir (Anti-Corruption, Maharashtra Police), as cases of Digital Detention cybercrime continue to rise.
In this video, Sir explains how criminals are posing as senior officials from the Police, ED, or CBI and threatening innocent citizens with fake “online arrests.” These scammers often use WhatsApp or Skype video calls with staged backgrounds that resemble government offices to appear legitimate.

Please listen carefully. No genuine officer will ever ask you to transfer money from your bank account or threaten arrest over a video call.
If you or someone you know faces such a situation, report it immediately by calling 1930.

धोखेबाज़ अपराधी खुद को पुलिस, ईडी या सीबीआई अधिकारी बताकर व्हाट्सएप या स्काइप वीडियो कॉल के ज़रिए लोगों को फर्जी “ऑनलाइन गिरफ्तारी” से डराते हैं। ये कॉल किसी सरकारी दफ्तर जैसे सेटअप से किए जाते हैं ताकि वे असली लगें।

कृपया सर की बात ध्यान से सुनें। कोई भी सच्चा अधिकारी कभी भी बैंक से पैसे ट्रांसफर करने के लिए नहीं कहेगा और न ही वीडियो कॉल पर गिरफ्तारी करेगा।
ऐसे किसी भी फ्रॉड की शिकायत तुरंत 1930 पर करें।

ADG Krishna Prakash Sir (Maharashtra Police) applauded the landmark Supreme Court judgment of September 23, 2024 which now makes viewing, storing child sexual exploitative and abuse material an offence under POCSO, IT Act.

A three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud said the sexual act was only the beginning of a child’s victimization.

“It continues through its recording, and perpetuates as photographs and videos that float through cyberspace, freely accessible to anyone who has the ability to surf the Internet… The knowledge that their abuse is being watched by countless strangers, sometimes years after the actual event, exacerbates the psychological wounds on top of the trauma that was already induced by the act in the first place. This perpetuating violation deprives the victim of any remaining hope or chance to heal, recover from the abuse and find closure,” Justice J.B. Pardiwala, who authored the 200-page judgment termed as ground-breaking by the Chief Justice, observed.

The Supreme Court urged the Parliament to “seriously consider” amending the POCSO Act to substitute the term “child pornography” with “Child Sexual Exploitative and Abuse Material” or CSEAM.

Justice Pardiwala thanked the Chief Justice for the opportunity to pen this judgment. The order focused on Section 15 of the POCSO Act which lays down punishment for the storage of pornographic material involving children. “Any person who stores any pornographic material involving a child and fails to report or destroy it is punishable with a fine of not less than five thousand rupees., and repeat offence will be punishable with fine of not less than ten thousand rupees. If the material is stored for further transmitting or propagating, then along with fine, it is punishable with up to three years of imprisonment. For storing child pornographic material for commercial purpose is punishable with three to five years of imprisonment, and in subsequent conviction, up to seven years of imprisonment,” the Section says.

ADG Krishna Prakash Sir shares his concern on rehabilitating the child victims in a proper manner involving long term counselling, mental health support, reintegrating into society in appropriate measures. He states that children are our future, our country’s treasure, its our collective responsibility to protect them, nurture them, educate them, handhold them. Future of humanity depends on how we behave towards children today.

ADG Krishna Prakash Sir asks the hard question about how is it that human beings can ever treat children so inhumanly? What about our ethical, moral, base human values? How does it allow us to perform such violent acts? Its not just legally but very humanly impossible to imagine and perpetrators must be most severely punished.

Glad to share feedback of cybercrime investigation training conducted by ‘Akancha Srivastava Foundation’ for Pune Police on January 30th, 2024 at Cop Excellence Center of Pune City Police Commissioner Office. This training session was supported by SBI Foundation.

We trained the Pune City Police on cybercrime investigation on January 30th, 2024. Over 130 officials attended the expert investigation training including the Additional Commissioner of Police, DCP Cyber Cell, and several senior investigation officers.

Some of the participating officers have solved tricky cases of Bitcoin/ cryptocurrency in India. In an independent feedback process, and as you will see in the video too, these sharp officers praised our techniques and tools. That is definitely a huge validation for our content design. We make huge efforts before every training session to study that particular region, specific pain points, engage senior police officials in the process, review the content with concerned officer, train our investigators on specific need, rehearse the program flow before each session.

Hope to continue such police- public partnership as we have been doing for last 7 years.

‘Akancha Srivastava Foundation’ partnered with Haryana Police to spread awareness about #Dial112- Emergency Response Number And cyber safety.

We were invited by Bhiwani Police, Haryana to spread awareness about their powerful safety initiatives on ground especially for girls & children safety. Together we conducted back to back cyber safety awareness workshops as young adults/ children or even adults are addicted to internet today.

Delighted to share how wonderfully the girl students accepted the workshops, their takeaway & most importantly their courage! It is heart warming to listen that we were able to inspire them to stand up for themselves & speak up for themselves. These kids are all set to spread their wings and fly into the world towards their careers, new cities, new paths. We are thankful to have played a small role in handholding them in this journey. This is the kind of confidence we wish to keep fuelling in youth so that they can take a stand for themselves and for others. We are thankful to the students who trusted us with their personal stories, we are in touch with them to help in any way possible.

Having Bhiwani Police women police officers along with us has further raised the respect in our hearts for law enforcement. We got insights into how hard they work in the region, listen to victims with compassion & with a stern hand when dealing with a criminal. Grateful to such committed, dedicated police personnel who are in service of the nation 24×7.

Let us tell you some more about  #Dial112 emergency response number -a fantastic set up especially for girls who can download this app and fill their basic information which allows police to track their location.

All e rickshaws in Bhiwani have been given a unique ID and their driver’s details registered with the Police. In case of any such situation where a girl is feeling unsafe during travel, she simply has to Dial 112 and trigger emergency response. Patrol cars reach the victim within minutes with this ‘trip management service’. They even double check to ensure that the caller has reached their destination safely. Additionally Bhiwani Police has deployed women Police personnel in plain clothes at ‘hot spots’ & ‘hot routes’.

These spots cover entrances of schools & colleges, shopping malls, bus stations, train stations, public parks, food courts, popular travel routes. These personnel immediately intervene at any sign of harassment.

Our Foundation was glad to be invited to be a part of this initiative where we educated thousands of young students across school & colleges about cyber safety and Bhiwani Police measures. Enriching experience for us to witness this change within interiors of the country. We hope to continue this police public, knowledge partnership for long term social change as we have been doing for last many years.

‘Akancha Srivastava Foundation’ partnered with Haryana Police to spread awareness about #Dial112- Emergency Response Number and cyber safety.

We were invited by Bhiwani Police, Haryana to spread awareness about their powerful safety initiatives on ground especially for girls & children safety. Together we conducted back to back cyber safety awareness workshops as young adults/ children or even adults are addicted to internet today.

We addressed 2500+ children on day 1 at the beautiful Halwasiya Vidya Vihar school. Extremely encouraging participation, enthusiasm and the open mindedness of children gives us tremendous hope. At the Foundation we have always maintained that children today are very bright and all they need is our handholding. We need to speak to them in all honesty and become good examples of what we preach.

Thankful to Vimal Acharya Sir, the Principal, all teachers but especially children who   showered us with so much love. Our Founder Ms Akancha Srivastava is a huge favorite with children. Her genuine affection & ability to convey the trickiest message in simplest form has always worked wonders with adults & children alike. As you will see in this video as well.

Having Bhiwani Police women police officers along with us in this drive has further raised the respect in our hearts for law enforcement. We got insights into how hard they work in the region, listen to victims with compassion & with a stern hand when dealing with a criminal. Grateful to such committed, dedicated police personnel who are in service of the nation 24×7.

About  #Dial112 emergency response number -a fantastic set up especially for girls who can download this app and fill their basic information which allows police to track their location.

All e-rickshaws in Bhiwani have been given a unique ID and their driver’s details registered with the Police. In case of any such situation where a girl is feeling unsafe during travel, she simply has to Dial 112 and trigger emergency response. Patrol cars reach the victim within minutes with this ‘trip management service’. They even double check to ensure that the caller has reached their destination safely. Additionally Bhiwani Police has deployed women Police personnel in plain clothes at ‘hot spots’ & ‘hot routes’.

These spots cover entrances of schools & colleges, shopping malls, bus stations, train stations, public parks, food courts, popular travel routes. These personnel immediately intervene at any sign of harassment.

Our Foundation was glad to be invited to be a part of this initiative where we educated thousands of young students across school & colleges about cyber safety and Bhiwani Police measures. Enriching experience for us to witness this change within interiors of the country. We hope to continue this police- public knowledge partnership for long term social change as we have been doing for last many years.

We look forward to visiting Bhiwani again to conduct more such impactful trainings.

We run India’s only functional private national multilingual AI chat helpline for cyber safety. This helpline is currently available in Hindi & English on our website. It can be accessed from any internet enabled device. You can chat here anonymously, fearlessly.
